History

Renton WABeer: We have been a part of the Pacific Northwest’s Beer Culture since 1995.  We pride ourselves on serving high quality Craft Beer for over 18 years.

With this direction, we brought on mostly Northwest produced Microbrews and some select imported beers!  Within several months we had completely changed the feel of the Tavern, and an ALE HOUSE WAS BORN!

The Whistle Stop Ale House has 16 taps, of which 90% are rotating.  The variety of Northwest Breweries and Regional Breweries continues to grow and the awareness of these superior and delicious beers has made it easy to choose the direction for our new ALE HOUSE.

Our Customers and the Community: Being new to the Renton community was a challenge at first, with regulars seeing this change as an affront to the way things had been done for so many years.  Over a very short time from October of 1995 to March 2006 the Whistle Stop had tripled its income and customer base.   This alone gave us great faith that our little 1675 SF Pub had potential.  Our customers included Boeing engineers, Boeing Manufacturing employees, City of Renton officials and City of Renton employees.  Employees from Wizards of the Coast and Classmates.com, both with their headquarters in Renton, made the Whistle Stop Ale House a regular place to meet.  Without this broad base of employers (Boeing, Wizards of the Coast, and Classmates.com) close by and the increased awareness of the Craft Brew Revolution, the Whistle Stop Ale House “Your Neighborhood Family Pub” may have been forced to move elsewhere to attract business.

Moving forward 16 years, the idea of reaching out to new customers and growing with our community is first and foremost of importance.  The new development, with its shiny new storefronts, near the Boeing 737 manufacturing plant at the south end of Lake Washington is a welcome addition to our community.  This massive development that houses the likes of Regal Cinema, Target, Ross Dress for Less, Petco, and LA Fitness help improve the quality of life here in our great city.  In addition to great shopping at The Landing there are some excellent dining choices not to be missed.  You may choose from the likes of Red Robin, The Rock Pizza, Five Guys Burgers, Thai 65, Jimmy Johns, and others.  If you are considering going to a movie at Regal Cinema or shopping at Target, remember that the Renton downtown core is only minutes to the south of The Landing.  Here you can find additional unique and tasty, locally owned restaurants such as  The Melrose Grill, The Red House Beer and Wine Shop and Tappas bar, Nan and Curry, A Terrible Beauty Irish Pub and the Dog and Pony Ale House and Grill.  These and other choices should be considered when discovering the “True Soul” of our great city of Renton.

A city is defined by its neighborhoods, and Renton is jeweled by diverse, eccentric, highly distinctive and very proud communities. Our restaurant is located in the center of these Renton neighborhoods; Kennydale, Renton Highlands, Fairwood, Skyway, North Renton, South Renton, Cascade, and Bryn Mar among others.
Favored primarily by locals, we pride ourselves on creating a restaurant that reflects the character of these neighborhoods. Whether you’re a Renton resident or an out-of-town visitor, we hope you’ll find comfort in the fun and dynamic environment we have provided.

Beyond the ales, the comfort is also in the cooking! We offer foods that soothe the soul, no matter what latitude you call home. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we’re pretty much here for you at all (reasonable) hours.

Thanks for your virtual interest in our restaurant.  We hope you enjoy the visit. If something catches your eye, be sure to stop by, set a spell and let our cooking cure what Ales you. It’ll be a real pleasure. We hope to see you there!
